SEO need not be difficult – for most the reason why SEO fails is because they did not partner with the right provider. While Organic traffic is – and will continue to be for the future – heavily dictated by the number and quality of backlinks you are able to procure over time, there are many different aspects of search engine optimization that you need to be aware of.

Failing to Do SEO, Or Even Worse.. Trying To Do It Cheaply.. Is The Equivalent Of Handing Your Competition Your Highest Potential New Customers.

As a business owner or marketer, your website serves as an important arm for your company. Not only does it allow potential customers or clients to come to your site to make purchases, it also acts as a valuable face for your company on the internet.

As a case study, we here at OutReachFrog wanted to see what as possible when it came to improving the outreach of a given site without the use of any backlinks.

Before going into what other techniques and strategies we used, let’s go over why backlinks are so valuable and what purpose they serve for a given site.

Why all the fuss about backlinks?

Essentially, the way that Google’s search algorithm works is it ranks sites based on how valuable they believe they are to a user based on the search they provide.

If your site as strong Domain Authority and SEO, you will likely end up on the front page of Google’s SERPs. If you are a leader in your niche or market and maintain a fantastic site, you may actually end up in the top five!

SEO, when done right is neither scary or confusing.. in fact its just plain profitable!

Jeremy Hughes

If you didn’t know already, the first ranked page on a given SERP is going to garner around 33 percent of the clicks. The second position is projected to get around 15 percent. Number three is estimated to get around nine percent. On and on down the line to just a few clicks per month.

If your site exists in a high-volume site, being ranked near the top of a major keyword or long tail keyword search is going to net you hundreds of thousands or even millions of clicks per month.

It’s what makes e-commerce possible. In fact, it’s what makes a lot of the modern economy possible.

What Do Links Do For A Website?

What link building does is two part. First off, it directs users who are searching for keywords within your niche to your site. It does this by having your links appear on sites that are of high domain authority and have high Organic traffic statistics. Directing users towards your site improves your own Organic traffic grow which helps imprive your DA and SEO.

The other thing backlinks do for your site is essentially alert Google that your site is well-respected within your niche. If Google sees that sites with strong DA are linking to your site, it understands that your site has something valuable to say. For that reason, over time, it will lead to improved Domain Authority which will in turn allow you to rank higher on valuable keywords, leading to even more increased traffic. In many ways, these things build upon themselves. The more backlinks you have, the more Organic traffic you will have, the better your SEO will be.

It’s as simple as that.

That being said, there are other things that are crucially important to improve your SEO are Technical SEO and OnPage Optimization.

In this case study, we were able to increase on-site sessions by 123,000 over a span of seven months with just these two strategies.

To give you a better idea of the challenges we were facing and the assets we were working with, the site in question was an online learning and personal development site.

The e-learning site was focused on educational material and training programs.

The major hurdle that they were facing was that they had hit an invisible ceiling in terms of growth in their search traffic.

Their content was already great, and they already had some very valuable backlinks. So how could they find a way to grow further?

After some in-depth analysis, our team of SEO experts managed to identify three major factors that were both holding the site back, and could also lead to improved results going forward.

Those factors are as follows.

Quality content

As previously mentioned, the business already had a fantastic foundation of content. That is a very difficult thing for most sites to overcome and was a great asset for this site in particular.

Instead, our team focused on an owned marketing strategy.

What this means is starting with assets that a site already owns and improving the way that the site markets them. It can include social media channels, video content, email lists, or – in this specific case – the website itself.

The site already prided themselves on delivering fantastic and educational content. One important thing, however, was to make sure that the numbers reflected the top-notch work on the site.

While great content is incredibly important, you also need to make sure that people are actually seeing it. Otherwise, it is falling on deaf ears.

So how did we shift great content into rankable content?

What our work primarily consisted of was adding surrounding terms, simplifying sentences, making sure all the grammar was top notch, and that there were few punctuation errors. Believe it or not, these things have a huge impact on a page’s SEO potential. If Google notices too many such errors, it will bury the post, resulting to little or no clicks even if the source is a popular site.

Improving the quality of the pages is only part of the work, however. The other part is improving conversions.

The next step was to focus on that.

Improving link structures

Just like link building from other websites is important, so too is link building from within your own site. These are known as internal links. In order to optimize SEO it is important to make sure that your site is easily navigable and that sites can take a user from one page to a different related page.

To do this, we made sure to include content on separate pages that focused on specific problems or question around products or services, which we were then able to create internal links towards.

User experience and page speed

Finally, the other factor that we identified as something that needed improvement was the user experience on the site as well as the speed of the site. Page speed is one of the most important factors related to SEO.

Don’t believe us? Take a look at some of the changes sites in the past made and how it improved their Organic traffic.

  • Pinterest increased search engine traffic and sign-ups by 15% when they reduced perceived wait times by 40%.
  • COOK increased conversions by 7%, decreased bounce rates by 7%, and increased pages per session by 10% when they reduced average page load time by 850 milliseconds.
  • The BBC found they lost an additional 10% of users for every additional second their site took to load.
  • DoubleClick by Google found 53% of mobile site visits were abandoned if a page took longer than 3 seconds to load.

Page speed is a confirmed ranking factor for mobile sites as well. As more and more of the internet moves to mobile, it was clear that this needed to be improved.

Expanding a growth strategy

All of these findings proved to be highly impactful. The site has enjoyed solid growth month in and month out, and even though very links were built towards the site, Google certainly took the on-site changes and improvements into consideration.

While our work on the site was done, we did offer the business a few tips to make sure that their growth continued in a healthy and consistent manner.

Here are some tips that you can integrate into your growth strategy as well.

Add new products and services

Since businesses often focus on either gaining customers or clients, consider expanding your products or services to garner more.

Identifying the services of products within your niche that users are searching for can be a great way to get an important leg up on your competition.

Create blog content that truly inspires

Having a blog and filling it with content that is old and date is no longer acceptable. Back in the old days of SEO, it was okay to have just okay content. Now, you have to have truly great content throughout your site to stick out.

Your customers are looking for a rich media experience that is more than just words. Videos, images, infographics, and more improves usability and interactivity.

For a new product or service that your company expands into, think about what types of questions your audience might have about it and think about an engaging way to answer them.

Link acquisition

Search engines and their related algorithms have come a long way in the last five years. Any good online strategy should focus on how to acquire mentions and links of their content on other sites.

What is important to remember is that when you are looking to grow, it is important to focus on the location and value of the links you do get – especially if you are paying for sponsored posts.

The domain authority and organic traffic of sites that link to your pages should be of the utmost importance when you are looking to build out a site and improve its SEO.

Results of the campaign

An owned media marketing strategy is one of the least expensive and easily forms of marketing, but it can also be one of the slowest. If you or your clients is looking to grow out an existing business and improve your brand image, then all it takes is a combination of efforts.

Real brands want longevity.

When it comes to making sure that your site can get the gains it needs in the short term as well experience growth long term, the best strategy is to combine link building along with onsite SEO improvements.

Since the beginning of our partnership with this site, we have taken the website that was struggling to break through its invisible ceiling and were able to increase its traffic by 15 percent.

This represented a growth from under 800,000 total sessions to over 915,000 sessions.

What’s important to keep in mind is that at no time in this case study were hacks or gimmicks mentioned. The reason why is because there weren’t any.

SEO is not a magical mystery that is impossible to understand. Instead, it is a science. If you are interested in learning about that science more, contact us at OutReachFrog today.

Launching A Successful Blogger Outreach Campaign

While blogger outreach program may seem pretty straightforward, there is in fact a lot of planning required to make it a success.

The smallest mistake, like picking up the wrong writer can create troubles for your brand. This is especially true in 2020 where search engines have become more ‘user oriented’.

You need to make sure you find the right people who create the right content to influence your targeted audience. Here are some of the best blogger outreach practices that will make your campaign stand out in 2020

1. Research the Site You Will Post On

Post on the right sites. Some sites have no traffic, others have traffic but not for keywords that are relevant to your desired customer.

A good blogger outreach agency takes care of the blogger outreach process.

Look for bloggers who write about healthy eating or fitness food

For instance, if you are marketing healthy food products, like a protein bar, then don’t just reach out to food sites in general. Look for niche bloggers who write about healthy eating or fitness food bloggers who may have a better chance at reaching out to the intended target audience.

You can do this by individually checking out blog sites and reading a few content pieces. Summarize those aspects of the content that equate with your brand and product.

You can simplify this process by using OutReachFrog who handle the entire blogger outreach process end to end including high quality content writing. They have helped thousands of agencies and website owners launch a successful blogger outreach campaign

2. Convincing Blog Owners To Write About You

This involves forming a relationship with the blog owner that you wish to have your post on. You need to keep the messages simple and concise. Nobody has the time to read through information overload.

Keep it succinct while giving them what they are looking for. Let them know outright that you are interested in having them write and article and link to you site and what’s in it for them. See our guide with templates on best opening emails for blogger outreach.

Keep the email simple for doing blogger outreach

Make sure you get to the main takeaway by the second or the third line. Pay attention to the subject line at the same time. Let it give the site owner or influencer a taste for what they are going to get from an outreach relationship between the two of you.

Be creative at the same time. If you have a truly unique product or prospect, then you know the influencer will be hooked. They need fresh content for their readers as much as you need their readers to be aware of your brand.

Don’t worry even if you have something that has been done before. Just look for unique selling propositions, explain how your brand is different, and surround it with content initiative that is both unique and useful.

3. Be Passionate and Build Trust

Make sure your enthusiasm comes through your pitching email. Emotional pitches are great because they help build trust with the writer.

However, this is only possible if you are passionate about your product. It is best to work with an agency if you are not too sure about your product. Agencies also help build trust quicker since they already have an existing relationship with the blogger.  See more here about the benefits of an agency vs DIY blogger outreach.

If you budget doesn’t allow for outsourcing, then look for mutual contacts in your network who can reach out to the influencer on your behalf.

Another approach is to really work hard to get the influencer to notice you. Write well-thought and insightful comments on their blogs and articles. You can follow them on twitter as well.

Summary Of Blogger Outreach Best Practices

To do blogger outreach correctly takes time and know how. The first step is creating high quality content that is shareworthy. This makes it easy to convince sites to post content. For maximum SEO value try to get these sites to then link to yours – preferably with a do follow link.

Blogger outreach is important in 2020 for a number of reasons, primary being, getting other influencers to take notice of your brand and have their followers become potential customers. However, to do a blogger outreach right, you need to take out time and plan ahead.

Having quality content entices blog owners who write on topics relevant to your site, aids readers of their blogs to learn more and to understand your brand and product offering and if done well will result greater visibility, more traffic and ultimately more sales.

Broadcasting the same message to your entire audience (repeatedly) is no longer an effective marketing strategy.

It is important that you take into account the critical mass achieved by social media, and place focus on building relationships among other things in your social media marketing strategy.

One of the best ways you can build relationships is by reaching out to other authorities and experts in your niche or industry.

You may pursue social media marketing for more fan following or ‘friends’, but it is a given, that they may never really convert. Most people opt for social media marketing just for a traffic boost, not understanding that it has the potential to provide so much more.
